PRELIMINARY
GENERATE AND
DEPLOY A TEMPLATE
Using the ECView Pro Configuration Manager, you can generate multiple
configuration files, which can be customized according to each device’s
requirements, and deploy it simultaneously. You can also add a specific
command to a configuration file by adding it to a template and deploying it
to specific devices.
To generate and deploy a template, perform the following steps:
1. From the Configuration File Navigator panel, click on the template
created. You will see the Template tab in the right panel.
2. From the Template tab in the right panel:
Scenario 1: If you want to change a word in the template, precede
the word you want to change in the template with the “%” symbol.
Example: You want to change the host name from the existing XYZ,
enter %XYZ in the template.
Scenario 2: If you want to add a specific command to the
configuration file, enter the command in the Template tab.
Example: You want to add logging 192.168.1.10 to a configuration
file, enter logging 192.168.1.10 in the Template tab.
3. From the left panel, select the template, right click and select Generate
and Deploy. You will see the Generate and Deploy Configuration files
dialog box.
4. From the Please set the parameters section:
Scenario 1: If you have only changed a word in the template by
entering the “%” symbol, you will see the command that was
entered in the Template tab in the column called Key.
Example: XYZ is displayed in the Key column.
Scenario 2: If you have added a new command in the Template
tab, the Key column will remain empty.
5. From the Value column, enter the changed pattern/new command you
want to replace the original pattern/command with.
Scenario 1: Enter Cisco in the Value field. This will change the
name of the host from XYZ to Cisco once the template is deployed.
Scenario 2: If you have added a new command in the Template
tab, the Value column will remain empty.
6. From the Select Suffix section, select “Add Suffix” to the parameters if
you want to add a suffix to the command you have entered in the Value
column.
